I am reading Donald Trump's, "Think like a Billionaire", thanks to Assante Capital Management who distributed complimentary copies at the Grand Opening of their new location in Stoney Creek two weeks ago.

An interesting fellow, that Donald! With thoughts of ghosts and goblins just past, Donald finds his own way to intimidate. Apparently his wooly eyebrows are a strategic advantage! He purposely does not get them "groomed" as people find them a distraction as well as slightly intimidating. So during negotiations with people, while they are distracted by the brows, he goes in for the kill and lands the deal!

I wonder if, by the time I am finished the book, I will find the reason for the hair!

Marrek Moments

This may just be rumour but apparently, " Leadership - it is Not Just for Leaders", co written by Karen Roy & Audie McCarthy, has a cameo appearance in the television ad for the National Women's Show coming up in Toronto. The talk around town is that one of the ladies at the show whips it out of her bag and flashes it across the screen.

Let us know if you can either confirm or squash this rumour!

Tips

You're Fired! Tips for Terminating an Employee

1. Be prepared. Rehearse what you are going to say.
2. Have someone else present. Don't do it alone.
3. Keep on topic and be brief.
4. Terminate at the beginning of a shift - not after the employee has worked all day.
5. Make sure the individual is capable of getting home on their own or provide a taxi.
6. Escort them to get their personal belongings.
7. Obtain all company belongings.
8. Walk them out.
