In the early part of this year, I have had a chance to deliver a diverse range of training material. In each course, I have noticed that one topic emerges as part of different training packages, time and again. That topic is "Assertiveness". Whether you are striving to be a good leader, a professional speaker, an effective facilitator, or just a good team player, having a strong belief in yourself and your values enables you to exercise your right and responsibility to contribute. Some people are naturally more assertive than others. However, the skill of assertiveness can be learned and applied by everyone. See the tips below for help in applying the skill of assertiveness in your daily life.

Assertiveness Tips
- Believe in your right to speak up.
- Consider the outcome that will motivate you to speak up effectively.

- Listen to others to fully…understand the facts before you respond.
- Be aware of your "hot buttons" and monitor your physical and emotional state.
