I had the opportunity to emcee the Oakville Chamber Success Conference last week. What a great day! Keynote speakers, workshops, door prizes, networking and food. It doesn't get any better than that!

One topic, that really caught my attention, was on "BLOGS". I had heard of Blogs before but didn't realize that they could help support your business. Every time you post a page, on your Blog, your search engine ranking goes up. That's cool.

Some of you might be wondering what I am talking about. A Blog is an easy-to-use website. You can post your thoughts (or pictures); interact with others and more. It is a journal or diary (that you want others to read). Your Blog can be pretty much whatever you want it to be!

Stay tuned for the launch of my new Blog. I invite you to tell me about yours! I would be really interested in what you have found the benefits to be. How often do you post entries? How many and what kind of responses do you get? Drop me an e-mail. I would love to learn more before I set up mine.

Tips

How to Hold a Successful Teleclass (or Conference Call)

1. Set an agenda. Participants need to know that their time will be well spent
2. Establish rules of behaviour. Such as:
   • Join the call on time
   • Everyone announces themselves upon arrival and again when answering or asking questions (do not depend on people's ability to recognize voices)
   • Do NOT use a cell phone. Find an old fashioned landline!
   • Disable the Call Waiting feature; no one wants to hear you get beeped!
   • Use a mute button; no one wants to hear your dog bark or your kids cry
3. If you are the facilitator, start and end the call on time
4. Thank participants for their time and interest
