Ah, routine! As sad as it is to see summer go, I have to admit, I enjoy getting back into a regular routine.
The dictionary says a routine is “something that is done regularly, at specific intervals, unimaginative, dull and commonplace”. Sounds pretty negative!
I think routine is necessary. Routine is part of organizational skills and time management.
Not that I want my life and business to be unimaginative, dull and commonplace!
I do want to have structure and focus and I believe that comes when something is done regularly and at specific intervals. What do you think?

Tips
Time Management Tips
Get into the routine of:
-
Checking voice mail and e-mail ONLY at specific times of the day. For example: first thing in the morning, just before you take a break, just before lunch etc. Don’t be addicted to the phone ringing or the computer ‘dinging” or your blackberry buzzing!
-
Making a “To Do” list. Writing down what you have to do will help you stay focused. It will also make you feel a sense of accomplishment when you cross off what you have completed.
-
Using your Outlook, plan and schedule tasks, meetings and time to think!
-
Think before you act. Just because someone asks you to do something doesn't mean it has to be done “now” or even by you.
-
Take lunch breaks. You will be more effective and efficient if you take time to refuel.
