How much fun do you have at work? There is a company called Longaberger located in Dresden, Ohio. At this company there is an unwritten rule that, if possible, up to 25% of each workday is to be dedicated to having fun. At first response, that sounds like a lot of time, however, let’s think about that…shouldn’t work be fun? Shouldn’t the place where you spend most of your time be fun?
This doesn’t mean we can’t be serious about our work. It doesn’t mean parties all the time with clown noses, etc. It means enjoying what you do and whom you work with. In that respect, 25% doesn’t nearly seem high enough!

I was meeting a client Friday – an association that works with vets – war vets – or so I thought. I proudly put on my poppy and headed out the door. Imagine my surprise when we pulled up in front of a Veterinary clinic!

- Celebrate accomplishments – personal and business related
- Celebrate birthdays, anniversaries, and other occasions.
- Get involved in community events.
- Plan social after work events.
- Plan social during work events.
- Laugh with others.
- Smile. It’s contagious, doesn’t cost anything, anyone can do it.
