Tips for Creating an Environment of Open Communication
Develop norms for behaviour together. Your team will be more committed to them if they have a hand in creating them.
- Use humour. It is a great way to relieve stress and make work fun.
- Facilitate conflict resolution. Help others work out their differences.
- Develop strong listening skills to really understand where others are coming from.
- Use empathy to convey understanding.
- Show interest in the wants and needs of others and they will open up.
Here’s hoping that the lines of communication are open for you at this busy time of year and you can fully celebrate the joy of the season!
