Marrek Welcome

The value of a good fit for a new team member was recently called to mind for me when we all met Carol, our new trainer for the first time at our May team meeting. Throughout the meeting it was so obvious that she fit right in with the rest of the group. She appeared to feel comfortable with us right away too and asked great questions. Her values of listening, evaluating and then speaking fit right in to the respectful atmosphere that we have cultivated at The Marrek Group. That was really what generated such a high comfort level; the shared values that we work and live by were already showing in her brief time with us.

When we at The Marrek Group offer recruiting advice we always tell clients to hire people that are different from themselves – different styles, different personality types, etc. The one thing that you don’t want to be different, though, is the set of values that a new team member lives by. Good fit means that the new hire’s values align with the team’s values which in turn align with the company’s values. To work successfully together you must feel comfortable with each other and that means knowing that your values are supported unanimously by your team!

Please see the Tips section below for help in matching new team members with company values.

Have a great week.

 Lisa
