Sylvia Brade is The Marrek Group's resident writer and editor. With a diverse background ranging from community and international development to manufacturing and small business, Sylvia's multi-faceted skills and wealth of experience combine to provide an engaging style and flexible approach to communication.
Career Highlights
As a business communicator, Sylvia has worked with clients to create marketing communications, product literature and advertising copy and is experienced in a range of writing that includes: newspaper style articles, newsletters, press releases, training manuals and materials, reports, advertorial, web copy, brochures, company profiles and speeches.
In every project she undertakes for, and on behalf of, The Marrek Group, her aim is to communicate key messages in persuasive, accessible language.
Being part of the Marrek team is a natural fit for Sylvia as the company shares her vision and values in its approach to human and professional development.
Community Involvement
Sylvia organized her first community fundraiser at the age of 7, and her interest and passion for community and international development initiatives is reflected in a lifelong interest and service to the non-profit sector.
Currently, she sits on the steering committee for Design Hope 2008's annual fundraiser, a project that raises awareness of and funds for Hamilton’s Out of-the-Cold program.
She is also pursuing her interest in micro-credit and micro economic development through Hamilton based organization EmpowerMED, which launched its first micro-credit program in Bangladesh in 2007.
Some of the past organizations she has volunteered with include: War Child Canada, Canadian Crossroads International, YWCA, Canadian Cancer Society, and Hamilton Aids Network.
