1. Remember that problem solving is not just problem identification. Problem + Solution = Problem-Solving

2. Get at the root cause of the problem to prevent it from happening again.

3. Identify and remove the barriers to problem solving present in your organization.

4. Create an open communication environment that encourages input from all team members.

5. Carefully consider each suggestion using the expertise of your team to decide on the best possible solution.

6. Most importantly, follow through on your action plan once a solution has been identified so your team will take future problem solving seriously!
